impressive render!!! and great job i love the effects
but for some reason it reminds me of Zeus -- ^___^ I don't know much about Marvel's Thor but I think the guy would look more authentic if the inscription on Mjöllnir was written in runic script or something, I mean, even the Varangians fighting for the Constantinopolitan Romans in the 10th century used runes instead of the Greek alphabet, you can't probably tell runes from chicken scratch but me neither, so... No, forget about all that, just change the typeface of the inscription to something resembling runes, with sharp angles.
I love the texture of the bodysuit but I'm not sure about the hue of blue you used, maybe Marvel's Ultimate Thor dark blue and black would be more appropriate given the realistic feeling of the pic. The wristband buckles look kinda dumb like out of a fairytale giant's closet. There's also an unnatural looking line between the left shoulder and triceps, and Thor deserves a higher-res background. I shouldn't be criticizing your work, I'm dirt compared to you, but hey you asked for it, innit? Never feel bad about a critique, especially when asked.
You bring up some valid observations, The color isn't so much a concern, MARVEL changes color schemes I don't get too excited about having the exact color blue. The arm is a concern, I need to rework it I think. Thanks for the input. Daniel -- Make dust our paper and with rainy eyes write sorrow on the bosom of the earth. beautiful work as always man
-- Website Blog CG Portfolio Flickr I really dig your interpretations of Marvel characters, I think you nail the attitude and essence of the characters to the tee. And this is a perfect example of that.
He has this arrogant look of contempt that only Thor could give, along with pose that emanates strength and power. It's noble yet edgy, and with his mighty warhammer Mjolnir, this will definitely intimidate any villain. It's classic man. very nice portraiture. i like how you used the colours in this piece.

Although I like the idea of the background, it is low res and falls short of this otherwise high-res character in the foreground. Also the lighting doesn't match the background as well, contradicting the light source. I think a more well thought out and executed background could have really set this piece off and further added to the atmosphere and drama of the piece.
There is a collision issue with the corner of the war hammer Moljinor and his left forearm. It's nothing major, an easy fix. But it's the minor details that can make or break a piece.
All in all it's a solid piece Daniel, you know I really dig it. I just think that more work on the background could have really helped set the stage and present the character.
